Conti has been in the solar industry since 2007 and has developed, engineered, procured, and constructed well over 75MW of solar-PV projects around the United States. We are expanding our solar EPC group to meet the increasing demands we are seeing for our services. GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION The Senior System Engineer position will be working with our Engineering, Operations, Estimating, and Business Development teams to design high-quality and efficient solar PV systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will play an integral and active role in helping Conti acquire new business and execute in-house projects. Responsibilities include solar energy system design and layout; interconnection design and equipment selection; energy production analysis; engineering support during construction, system commissioning and troubleshooting; evaluating future technologies; and developing internal intellectual property products and offerings. The Senior Systems Engineer should not only be a great engineer, he or she also should be an effective communicator and team player. The position will require superior cross-functional skills including close coordination with Conti's estimating, operations, and business development teams in addition to interfacing with customers and other project stakeholders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES o Develop detailed layouts and electrical design packages for solar PV systems that meet all contractual, code, and permitting requirements o Coordinate with civil and structural engineering firms to obtain detailed civil and structural design packages from third party vendors/firms that meet all contractual and permitting requirements. o Develop single-line and three-line diagrams with required electrical details for solar PV systems in accordance with NEC, IEEE, NESC, utility interconnection tariffs and requirements, and local AHJ as necessary o Lead the project interconnection approval process as the primary point of contact with the interconnecting utilities from the application process through final design approval o Attend meetings with clients, State and local permitting authorities, subcontractors, and vendors regarding engineering and technical issues related to the solar PV system o Coordinate and obtain SCADA designs for solar PV systems from third party monitoring companies o Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for engineering firms and contractors o Strong working knowledge in single phase and three phase low and medium voltage power distribution equipment selection and specification o Strong working knowledge in performing power system protection and coordination studies o Conducts on-site solar PV system commissioning and troubleshooting o Experience in power quality site analysis and remediation o Experience in power distribution equipment acceptance testing activities involving control system checks, protective devices and schemes, grounding systems, regulators, electrical transformers, circuit breakers o Experience with technical specification writing on general power equipment and engineering design QUALIFICATIONS o A 4-year degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) o Four or more years solar PV design, design/build, or EPC field o Experience in Distribution substation engineering for utilities and renewable energy power plants o Experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in substation type applications, including substation automation, SCADA, and control and relay protection o NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional a plus o Proficiency in AutoCAD o Proficiency in PVSYST o Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint o PE License is preferred but not required PAY/BENEFITS Conti has great benefits.
